Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

I have a 2000 3.0 sport-
I have 275K on mine- I just had to replace the battery and alt. (Service bulletin-when oil leaks on the alt will ruin it), but before that, I've had no trouble at all.
I would look at the alt and make sure it is clean and dry. No oil on it. If there is, you would have work to do.
I do not know what these are going for these days, but they are good cars.

Word of CAUTION!! These trucks are infamous for the passanger canshaft seal oil leaks. Take note if these have been replaced: timimng belt, water pump, cylinder head O-Rings and pcv valve. Any of the first three items mentiond are costly laborwise. The last two are DIY projects. I have had to do all of the above.
