I am new to Monteros. About how many rpms should a Montero Sport XLS with the 3.5 eng. , 4sp auto transmission, and 4wd be turning at a cruising speed of 70mph? Mine is at just under 3000 say about 2900 to 2950. This seems a little high to me but as I said this is the first one I have driven so I don't have any thing for reference. It really seems like it needs a 5th gear to drop into.

 

Soooooo..... This has been posted for over a week. No one has any input on what your vehicle's rpms are at 70mph????? I just wanted some numbers to compare my vehicle's rpms to. Any help is appreciated.

 

Ok, its been two months since my original post. Either no one reads these boards or no one know what a tachometer is. Its the gauge near the speedometer that show how fast the engine is running. Please, next time you are driving on the highway take half a second to look at it when you are cruising at 70mph and post here what the rpms of your engine were at that speed. Its really not that hard to do.
