2002 Monty help..
I am looking at buying the 2002 Montero but don't know which model would be better. XLS vs Limited. I like the part time 4 wheel drive in the XLS but have read reviews of the limited super select system being awesome. I have no experience with these trucks so any help would be great before I make my decision. Oh, and I won't be doing any major offroading with her as in rock climbing or the such. Just stick with light to moderate trails and maybe some creek crossings and of course the weekend camping trips.

If you have the money to spend, the Limited is the way to go.
The super select is amazing! Having control of every gear selection is a huge advantage IMHO. The base model's transmission has the lower gear selection to gear down when needed, but the total control of the Limited give the driver more options at all speeds. We do a fair bit of overlanding and back country driving, and the Gen III has met all our needs...(and the wife loves the heat seats when we're out snow-wheelin').

Thank you for the input. I had already leaned toward the limited but thought, if it didn't make that big of a difference as far as performance, why spend the extra. I'm not needing leather and all that jazz but if it has it great! I will keep my eyes peeled for a limited and hope to see you guy's soon on a trail near you
