Default 2002 timing belt change

I'm confused about the timing belt, do you change it at 60k or 100k and why is its different for 4 states. 2002 montero ltd

I seem to recall the FSM calling for a timing belt change every 60k.
However, that does not mean people always follow the service schedule. I know folks who didn't change their belts until 100k, and they had no problem with the belts braking before replacement.
Do you take your Monty on remote expedition runs?
IMO, changing the belt is worth it when you weigh it against getting stranded somewhere in the back-country with a broken down rig.
