2003 Montero sport, rpms barely move, car will not drive, PLZ HELP!!!
okay I'm on lunch, il try n be breif
it's been three weeks since I've made it home. This vehicle is physically and mentally destroying me. Please please please anyone help me.
MAin cat. clogged. Got red hot and burned hole through passenger floor. Melted the wires to the 2 latter O2 sensors, down to the clip. Cut wires back and covered them to avoid further shorts/damageCleared it and ran about an hour til response from throttle was lost. Engine runs and fires. Rpms are audibly apparent yet only a bare response from tachometer or any motion.
lost cranking ability, oil leaked over starter and alternator. Melted plastic and metal attachments to alternator.
Removed, cleaned l, benchtested, both were good, reinstalled and replaced with proper connector ring. Blew battery fuse. Filed ends clean and connection returnedPulling 12.4 and 14.7 with car off or running, respectively.
Still won't drive.
Cleared 1st of the 2 pre cats and replaced. Still nothing. Caught that one of three coil packs were not firing. Replaced that.
Also replaced throttle body intake and lower gaskets. Skipped middle visible inspection is clear, plus carb cleaner wasn't choking it.
Rebuilt fuel injectors with fresh gaskets.
replaced pcv valve, even tho I could blow through it it was strained
Cleaned;
egr valve
Evap solenoidThorttle body intake actuator
I can just about draw a diagram of literally every system of this vehicle except the main electrical chasis, from heart.
Still will not run.
I'm chasing these issues coing insane. Nothing solved the issue. There is a very peculiar thing going on that wasn't there prior. A very large audibly apparent vaccum leak. The tach will slightly move but just barely. I've had a few suggestions concerning transmission but if the tranny was out the tach should still move correct?
I've had a vehicle with vac leak before and it's behaving similarly. This one is so loud it's insane. Ran thru hole can of carb cleaner to no avail. Been isolating evap vaccum system parts one at at ime and getting nowhere. It sounds as if it's coming from fuel injectors or rear area. Tough to diagnose as they buried the plugs and injectors under the throttle body. Makes no damn sense. It's a 2hoir jon checking plugs. Which I have done, and cleaned. Engine fires great. Somethings preventing the pressure in engine.
If anyone has suggestions of what's left to check, diagnose. Please. I'd like to get home. It's been awhile
my last ditch guess on this is that, well I still have the passenger side precat that is clogged and possibly that's enough from preventing air motion enough to move vehicle.
Or possibly the leaks been there the whole time and now that the 2 of 3 cats are clogged it can't build pressure and I now hear it.
Not entirely sure what the issue is but I know the cat getting clogged has basically destroyed the whole rest of the vehicle

The most important and in my mind the #1 question is - what caused your catalytic converter to melt and plug up? A normally running engine e will not do that. The most likely is dumping raw unburnt fuel into exhaus manifold. That can be caused by stuck open injector, not functioning spark plug or improper timing. All those things as could prevent your engine from running now too. To eliminate a possibilityof a clogged converter or pre-cat, just disconnect them from both manifolds and try to start the engine.
