Drive. Warm up fluid. Then add 1/2-3/4 quarts to get it up where it needs to be. Transmission dipstick are marked at 1/2 quart between low and high marks.

Drive again. Re-check level. If you get it up to proper level, leave it there. In the next few drives check to see if you're loosing (leaking) fluid anywhere. I'd recommend that you top off transmisdion fluid ASAP. Having low levels is one of the primary causes for wrecking transmissions.
