Default 2004 Montero Seats

Hello,

I just purchased a 2004 Montero Limited. I did not get the owners manual with it and am trying to figure out the second row seats. Do both of the seats tilt forward or is it just the small one on the drivers side?

Thank you...

Hi Sigholt,

If your Monty is like my '01, both seats tilt up and forward independent of each other. They will also recline, which is a nice feature not available on many SUV's at that time.

Both parts of the split seat should fold forward. It is possible that the cables and mechanisms inside the seat are gummed up and not releasing properly even if you are pulling up on the little lever on the back of the seat. You can fix it by climbing in behind the seats, removing the back cover of the back seats (just a few philips screws) and cleaning/lubricating the mechanisms with some WD-40 and then applying some lithium grease.
Work the mechanism few times to make sure to clear all the gunk out and you'll be back in business.
