Outlander aint bad either, but Outlanders offroad perfomance is not that good compared to the new 4th gen Pajero/Montero. Onroad, it is very fun to drive, but Mitsubishi have stated that it is not proper offroad vehicle. Montero is for offroading in their lineup.

Montero has low gear, great traction control which makes that even only 1 wheel has traction, it will move forward, not bad ground clearance, 100% air locking rear and center diffs. Well locking rear diff is optional in some countries, but here in northern Europe it is stock. The 2009 model have improved sound isolation and many other little uprages.

Also the Montero looks much better to my eye, and has better stock equipment, like the 860W Rockford Sound system and MMCS.

Default Montero/Pajero

If i have no choice & can't get my hands on a 2009/2010 (my 2003 still runs fine & will go to 200,000 miles before i'll want to repace it) i sat in a new Honda Pilot & was very impressed. Of course no skid plates & 2/4 wheel options but the space, fit and finish were superb. I'd still rather a Montero if i could get my hands on one.

Well, It's getting to be that time. I'm at 150K with no issues but expect that 2010 will be my last year with my 2003. Can you connect me with your dealer in Mexico to find out if they can indeed export a new Montero? Regards and happy holidays!

You may want to drive up to Maine and see if you can get this one for less than the way-too-high asking price.

Very hard to believe that, because the 4th gen montero has one of the lowest center of gravity in it's class and it's relatively good in terms of body roll. It's just as good as Land Rover LR3 and Toyota Land cruiser 120 in this thing. Actually it's better than Toyota, about same level as land rover with air suspension.

And 4th gen model got remarkable updates from the previous and at 2009 also a new diesel and gearbox were introduced in the lineup. So they have been updating it otherwise all the time, why wouldn't they have done that?

I think they just stopped it, because it wasn't successful enough in the USA. There will be totally new 5th Gen Montero at 2011 or 2012, or a little later. Maybe that will come in to the USA again too.
