Like everyone else, I'd like to see better pick up performance out of my 02 Montero Sport.
Has anyone found a way around this without putting a blower on it?? Inexpensive upgrades like removing the air box and replacing the mass airflow sensor with open source performance filter and fitting?? Performance chips etc.??

Any help or ideas would be great.

 

I don't think there are any "inexpensive" upgrades that will increase your performance. Some folks drop in a K&N air filter, which helps a bit. An aftermarket exhaust system will help as well. I don't know anyone that has used a "tuner" in a Sport. The Montero is a low end, torque vehicle that has never been known for "street performance"; it has made its mark with off road performance.
