It is time. The motor in my 1993 Montero SR has died and it is time for a change. I've already rebuilt it once, and I've decided that I want to swap it with something more powerful. I was thinking of replacing the existing setup with something out of a Chevy 1500 or something. The other possibility is replacing the motor with a Toyota V8, but I don't know if the transmission has a similar bolt pattern (I know the tranny is toyota).

I have 2 main questions for you guys:

1. Have any of you ever done a V6 to V8 swap?

and

2. Are there any other engines that mate up to my current transmission?

Any help would be appreciated!
