Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

Default 94 montero

I recently purchased a 1994 Montero SR 4wd from its original owner with 135k miles. I intend to use this a fishing, camping, beach and snow vehicle.

I am VERY surprised how well this car runs for how old it is.
It has a lot of torque off the line and smooth on the highway.

I've been scanning the forum for a way to reset the "Maint Req'd" light.
I just performed an oil change. All I've seen on the forum are "check engine"

Another issue I'm having, which I've read to be a common issue with other owners on the forum is that the Montero has a rough idle. As I've read, I will clean the throttle body this weekend. I have already changed the airfilter.

Yes, the idle certainly smoothens out when I turn on the A/C or Econo.
I've read posts of varying results of owners disconnecting the battery or fuse.

I'm proud to now own this 94 Mitsubishi Montero. I can only imagine how great of a vehicle it one once as a brand new vehicle.

If anyone would be able to share how to reset the "Maint Req'd" lamp on the dash and/or smoothen the idle, I would be very grateful.

Thank You!

to reset the "Maint Req'd" lamp there is a slide switch on the back of the tach you need to remove the speedo assy and turn it over and you will see the switch just slide to the other side
