99 Montero Sport Accessory drive assembly
I recently picked up a 99 Sport LXS and Im trying to get it into shape for the spring. I decided to do the timing belt change and also pull the heads for a low vacuum issue.
Got a couple of questions:
1. When I went to loosen the power steering pump I didnt realize until too late that to loosen the belt I needed to turn the bolt clockwise. I broke one of the ears for the adjustment bolt on the accessory drive mount. Ive called around and no one wants/or is willing to weld (pot metal) the tab back on.
The only thing I can think is to replace the entire mount or somehow modify it to make it work. No luck in finding a replacement, doesn't even come up in any searches. Anyone know of where I can pick one up? Anyone ran into this before?
2. I pulled the heads and that damn coolant crossover pipe was a bear! I finally had to disconnect the drivers side (had to go through the wheel well) and pull the passenger side head with the pipe still attached to it. Is there a secret to getting to those bolts? Special modded tool or...?
Otherwise very happy with it. 136,000 miles, no rust. Interior is decent except the drivers seat is torn up.
thanks in advance!
