99 Montero XLS 3.0 4X4 Low Idle & Stall
Hey guys,
I have a 1999 Montero Sport XLS, 3.0L, 4X4 with approximately 160,000 miles. Up until now, then engine has been MINT. Runs awesome, quiet, smooth, beautiful. I am experiencing stall at low RPM's, and a low idle while in gear, neutral and park. Usually, RPM's are at about 700-900. Tach shows closer to 300-400 while at idle in gear, neutral and park.
I just changed out my power steering lines. To do this, I had to unplug the MAF sensor. I am assuming that this issue is directly related to the MAF sensor. However, upon inspection, all looks well. The connection is dry, clean, and tight.
Is there anything else I should be looking at? It runs smooth going down the road. Idles smooth as well, just at a really low RPM. It's most noticeable, and stalls, when you immediately let off the throttle at slow speeds, such as braking to a stop.

I check as many vacuum lines as I could find. I did find a couple with split ends, which I rectified. Still, no change.
Thanks for the replies. After some research online, I realize that I may have omitted a vital bit of information; the battery has been out of the truck for almost 3 weeks.
I had read that once your ECU has lost all memory, it will take some idle time, as well as drive time, for the ECU to reprogram itself. I let the truck idle for 20 minutes. After it had sat and cooled down, I took it for a drive down the highway, some side streets, and back home. About a 30 minute drive.
Seems as if the issues are gone, and that the ECU has reprogrammed itself. It's running like its old self again.
