Default ABS Help

Hi Guys, I´m the new owner of a 2,000 Montero Sport XLS. I have two days on the car. On occasions, I'm driving, press the brake pedal, and the abs light comne on and stay on. Then when I start it again, it comes on for a couple of seconds, and then goes off (as it should).
I had a Range Rover with some similar issue, that turned out to be a "loose" abs sensor on the wheel. A couple of bangs with a mallet and problem solved. Would this be true with the Montero?.

Thanks for the help, and happy to be on this forum.
