Default A/C Trouble

Hello, I have a 2000 Mitsu Montero Sport XLS whos has a couple of kinks with the A/C. Last week it stopped blowing cold air after 17 minutes, so I took it to an A/C place and they replaced both the expansion valve and the drier filter aluminunt canister thingy. After that It was't blowing enough cold air so the guys put mor gas and it kinda got better. After that the A/C compressor developed a tak tak tak sound, when I turn it off it goes away when is one it comes back (louder when is on Park), so I took it to the same place and they told me that theres a nut that needs to be tighten in the ac clutch, but this morning I went to a different place and they told me that the whole compressor was bad and that I had to replace it including the new filter and valve. What gives, any suggestions?

The first shop had no idea what they were doing. The expansion valve does not go "bad". Also, once you put in the proper amount of freon and oil you do not add a bit more to make it work better. They probably overfilled you system and liquid freon entered your compressor causing it to fail.

When the new shop replaced the compressor they should evacuate all of the freon and oil. They will also need to replace the drier again. When they reassemble the system they should put in the proper amount of freon and oil and you should be good to go. They should also check for leaks. Good luck.
