u could also have the timing marks right but 180 degrees off make sure those marks are on when number one cylinder is at TDC

Good idea. while were on that subject i've been assuming this is overhead cam like 97 montero sport. If it is then the crank and both cams should have permanentley mounted timing marks on the block. Either waygoodidea to double check your at Top Dead Center on your timing mark

Thanks guys, I am going back in on Thursday, will post when I check out all suggestions. I will still check for any new posts until then though.(oh-yeah overhead cams).

News is good! I had the pins (spenal?) in the gear (behind the crankshaft pulley) mis-aligned. The truck starts right up now! Thanks for all info guys.

Update: FYI Now I find out it was the sensor that is why I couldn't set the timing.
