Default check engine light

Hey All,
I have a 2002 Sport with 74000 miles and the check engine light came on today....Is there a way to check for codes? I know my last 3 Mitsubishis there was a switch in the dash that would turn the light off for another 75000 miles..Is there one on the 2002 Sport? Any help would be great.................Thanks, aee1

Go to autozone and they check the code for free. Come back and tell us what the code is!

Its not really as much as a switch as hooking up the computer to the obd2 connector and resetting the light... but itll just come back on as soon as the (most likely) 02 sensor kicks it again. 74K miles? Is it the check engine or service soon light?

Ok, its telling you its "tune up" time. Timing belt, plugs, wires.. stuff like that.
But before you decide (like some) NOT to do it and just reset the light, remember that most of Mitsus engines are interference motors and if they blow their timing belt its motor replacement time. Itll prolly be almost a grand to get it all done... but its cheaper than a new motor.
