Motor preference on Gen II's
Hi guys, new member. I'm looking at a Gen II Montero and am wondering about the motor's available. Given the choice, would you rather go with the 3.0 or the 3.5? Is either one better in the durability department? Any idea on expected milage before rebuild on either?
Thanks

RE: Motor preference on Gen II's
id go with the 3.5 (6g74) mine was reall really reliable.....never had as problem with it,when i got it the maintenince (oil and all that other stuff) was pretty over due, it kept runnin beutifully. and performance wasnt affected much at all,it was STILL goin AFTER i ****ed up my car, i smashed into a hydrant and screwed my front end up and i was able to drive home, but im sure the 3.0 is also reliable, but i reccomend the 3.5 from experience
(i was in the process of workin on it, it was gooin to get primed in the week after the crash, but the crash happened)

I don't have much experiance with either...although I drive the 3.0L currently. I would say (since you indicate a Montero, not a MS) to go 3.5L taking into account the power portion only. I have not had any reliability problems in the year I have had it (just turned over 95K miles) although power is lacking.
