Default CV Joint help

Hi, I have a 95 Montero LS with a 5 speed. Last weekend I noticed my driver's side inner CV boot was torn. I removed the CV half-shaft (or CV joint whatever you want to call it) and cut the torn boot off but I can't figure out how to remove the joint from the can type thing to disassemble the joint so I can install the new boot. I hope that's descriptive enough... just trying to get the new boot on . Any help would be very appreciated please. THANKS!

I actually ended up figuring it out this afternoon: there is a circular ring that needs to be barely compressed to fit out of the tube-type housing so that the joint can be removed.

If you have taken any photos of the work you've done, it would be great to post a few of them to show how you got the not on and off.
