disabling airbag

disabling airbag
I am having my driver side airbag disconnected in my 2003 Montero Sport. Has anyone done this? Any problems or things I need to know before starting?
I have been told that the disabling kits you get on-line will also disable the airbag light on my dash, yet others have said this will always stay on. Anyone know if you can completely disconnectthis light?
Thanks for the help!

RE: disabling airbag
The only reason i could ever think of to disable one would be if you were making a show vehicle out of one, or had worn the factory wheel down to the metal, and pulled all the foam of it... then needed to replace it. but even then, i think I would scower the damn junk yards and find a nice used example.
as for the show vehicle thing... not likely, it is a montero we are talking about here.
then again, he/she could be making a dedicated off road vehicle out of it... but then again, it is a montero...

No offense intended but do you know what you're talking about here? Have you wheeled a Montero Sport? I know plenty of sport owners who take them off road. I even have a friend with a 98 sport w/ 35x12.5" Mud Terrain tires who regularly does hard core trails like the Rubicon, Fordyce, Dusy Ersham, etc.
Lu,
Any luck disconnecting your airbags?
