Default Engine Replacement in a 92 Montero

I have a 92 montero that has a dead cylinder. I am looking at just replacing the engine. I have not been able to find a 3.0, but I did come across a Chrysler 3.5 for very little money. How hard would it be to do this swap. What would I need. Also, if this is a fairly difficult swap, could I buy a 3.0 block out of a Chrysler car and put my good internals, plus a freshening up, into the montey? I can get a good block for about 100.00. I can get the complete 3.5 with accessories for around 300.00. Any help is appriciated in advance. I am new to these, but I have a Fiero that I'm doing a major swap in, but this is the daily driver and I need to get it up and going this weekend if at all possible. Thanks

I assume the Chrysler motor is a 6G74 Mitsubishi engine?

Yes, the engine is a 6g74. It is out of a later model chrysler car. I can't remember the model at the moment though. thanks for the continued input

To the best of my knowledge, the Chrysler6G74 will be out of a FWD application. The engine mounts may be your first issue to work around, as theymay becast differently. If the engine was mounted into the Chrysler longitudinally, such as on the 300M, it may be easier. Any idea what vehicle the engine was pulled out of?

I believe it is out of the 300M longitudinaly mounted. It was the closest one i could find near me that may fit and get the montey back up and on the road ASAP. Thats my biggest issue, I need to get it running. A family of 3 doesn't fit into my little 2 seater very well, lol

Not really. Been down with the flu last few days. If I do put this 3.5 in, will I need to change computers and all, or should I be able to bolt up, turn the key, and go? thanks again for the help.

Just emailed you with an idea.

I have my wife's 94 montero with a 3.0 in her we need to sell (I'm out of work). Look at your email or email me through here and I can send pictures.

It would be great to have her go to a good home rather than a yard.

Thanks.
