You do NOT have an LSD in your front differential. The switch actually a "Freewheel Engagement Switch" which pretty much senses if your front freewheeling axle has locked in such as when switching into 4wd. If you have a GenIII Montero- this is a common occurance with a published TSB. The only repair is to replace the actual sensor with the updated part since it is leaking through the sensor body (not the threads of the sensor). Replacing the sensor is absolutely easy as it is in a very accessible location. There's no need to drain the differential either. Just make sure you have the new sensor ready before completely removing the old one. You'll loose a few tablespoons in the transition. Make sure you top off the differential to make up for what was lost during the replacement and what was lost as it leaked through the old sensor.
Good Luck!

I don't know of an actual public TSB list with exact symptoms and repairs other than what's available at the dealership. You can find some TSB's online though it usually is just a general description. I'm only going by memory at this point as i haven't worked for Mitsubishi since late 05' .
