Default HELP....Stripped oil pan 00' Montero Sport

During a oil change I decided to replace the drain plug with a new one from auto zone, the new bolt screwed right in but when I started using my ratchet it stripped right away, I hardly put any torque. So then I thought that the plug stripped so I decided to put the old one and and it wouldn't even screw in. The bolt used was a m14-1.5, auto zone said it was the correct size. So I ordered a used oil pan off eBay and I'm now realizing that it says thru 04/00 but mine is a 05/00 so I'm not sure if it would fit. Does anyone know if there was a different style oil pan for the 2000 Montero Sport 3.0, my oil pan is big and silver, I know that there is a smaller black one and hopefully it isn't the one I ordered

Don't despair. You can repair the oil pan thread with the special epoxy. I used the Loctite Form a Thread about 6 years ago on a motorcycle oil pan thread (aluminum pan) and it has been holding perfectly so far. Here is a link to the product on Amazon:
Amazon Amazon
It will be easier if you can use it with a removed pan, but I think it can be done with it on the engine too.

I was already planning on changing out the oil pan gasket so I’ll give it a try
