Default Hitch

I am interested in fabricating a receiver hitch (2") that will bolt on to my 2002 Montero Limited. If anyone in the Denver area has one installed on their rig I would appreciate it if I could take some measurements from it. Or if someone knows of a link to a drawing/print of the same can you share it? I know it would be simpler to just buy one, but I recently retired and have more time and tools than money.

I have a hitch on my 03 ltd. I dont believe they came factory installed for everyone I've seen with one its an after market hitch. I dig the idea of fabbing one up though. I dont live in the denver area but I would be more than happy to take some pics and measurements and post em for you.

Were you able to get the hitch dimensions?

Im also going to be fabing one up for my 95 here soon, so if your going to fab one yurself make sure the reciever end you use is the correct edge for your hitch because theres 2" rounded edge and square edge. If you go to walmart in the automotive area they sell a universal round edge reciever piece maybe 7" long id say for like $11.00 bucks, with that and some 3/16 plate steel and a welder im sure you could make one yourself thats what im gonna do. If u fab one post pics im sure we all would love to see it thanx.

Heres some pics from my hidden hitch. However after I ran out there and measured it I didnt even think about measuring the drop from where it bolts to the sub frame and the bottom of the hitch also I forgot to measure how thick the actual hitch is. I will post some more tomorrow.

No need to apologize! I thank you for all the effort you have put forth! I amvery interested in seeing your drawing with dimensions added. this will aid me (and perhaps others) in creating a useable design for a Monty hitch that will bolt directly to the unibody and clear the bumper cover hor. and ver.

Thanks for your input. There is a metal recycling co. here in Denver (Atlas Metal and Iron Corp) where they will custom cut the pieces I will need from scrap stock. They charge by the lb. and the cut and are very reasonable. I will get my rough cut stock from them and finish cut that with my chop saw. Cleaning, drilling, bending, welding and painting will be in my garage.
