Default How to replace 98 Sport 4wd actuator

Hello Everyone, newbie here. I need help on how to replace the actuator on the front differential. Also the free wheel indicator switch (?). Do I need to drop/lower the differential? Do I need to open up the differential to disengage the actuator arm? The wires to the switch have broken off but I can't seem to remove the switch due to the closeness of the oil pan above. One of the vacuum connections to the actuator has broken as well. Any advice, tips or pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
