Default Lag when shifting (automatic)

Montero Sport 2001 3.0L. The a/c belt broke so i installed a new belt and a new p/s belt. After driving the vehicle, every time it shifts there's a lag. Sounds like RPM goes up before it shifts to the next gear. Is it possible that the belts are too tight or too loose?
