Lost for Ideas In South Florida
I bought a 103000 mileage one owner 2002 Montero Ltd out of a Charity auction In Phoenix AZ. Had it transported to South Florida and when it came off the transporter when you hit the brakes there is a Ting,Ting,Ting noise, also the noise comes occasionally without touching the breaks, but always when you break. The battery was useless so down to Walmart for a 24F and yesterday starts wonderful. I checked engine oil, water & gearbox all ok. I did not drive it yesterday as when I went to register at our local DMV there was a problem which I sorted out today. I did start the car yesterday and let it run and after 15 minutes it just stopped and for awhile would not start. Then Started and seemed to idle ok. After getting the plate I took it for a short run and almost immediately it started but would not keep running I got it home and the engine coolant gauge was on very hot & steam and possible oil smoke and I switched off. first from this brief explanation any ideas whats wrong and does anyone know of A Mitsubishi Friendly repair garage in South Florida

Hey man, check his post... https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/mi...g-noise-34000/
I had a similar noise, in my case was not a tingting... but more like gears grinding... it was the 4wd solenoid... it happen when you go slow... or decreasing speed more in low speeds... not sure if that is related but is worth to read the post. Cheers and good lock.

Hi Cesare Looks Like the Tinging noise is coming from the ABS breaking system. On page 2-57 of the manual note 2 there is a "noise" when starting and is normal. This the noise is not normal. I was also warned to check "The vacuum Line but I could not find which line was the one? Underneath Brake Fluid Reservoir on the engine side is a dome shape with a nut on top and the vibrations of the noise come from that. The car today ticked over normally did not stall so tomorrow will try driving again
