Montero Sport 3.0 and 3.5 gas mileage and towing
Hi,
I am new to the forum and am looking at buying a use Mits Montero sport. My big decision now is which engine should I go with. Of course I would like the towing power of a bigger engine, but I don't know if the year round gas mileage tade off would be worth it. QUESTION: #1.What kind of MPG do you people get with either your 3.0 or 3.5 city and highway? I know what the manufaturer says but I would like some real world day to day use numbers. #2. I would be towing a tent trailer and a small fishing boat. Have any of you towed anything with either engine and what was your experience? Any info. would be greatly appreciated as I decide on engine size.
Thanks, JJT

RE: Montero Sport 3.0 and 3.5 gas mileage and towing
I have not been keeping up on my MPG, since it costs like $40 to fill up anymore. So I don't have any comments here, plus I am bit biased coming from a small 4 Cyl Grand Am .
I can tell you that I have found that my 3.0 is much less powerful than other SUV's in this category with the V-6, and if I could have I might have opted for the 3.5 just for the power.
But like I said I don't know the MPG #'s. If I were you I would test drive both to feel the power.
