"One more thing - as far as doing the fluid change. Did you guys read the manual on how to properly do it? You need to disconnect a trans fluid cooling hose, run the engine in neutral until fluid stops coming out (my guess to empty out the torque converter), after that drain the fluid from the pan, refill the pan, run engine again (to flush converter again), and after that top off the fluid to proper level. I don't see why you need to do any more forcefull "flushing" in addition to this if your transmission is working fine and you just need to refresh your fluid."

I know this is an old thread, but this quote needed a bump. I've been running my '03 Sport for 17 years and this is how I always "flushed" my tranny (used Amsoil fluid). Guess I'm a bit old school, no choice. 205K

Here's one way to look at it:
1) I hadthe same situation/130K if I recall,butI just drained the pan. Repeat the drain again sooner or later...you choose when. Its still going to be better than not draining at all.
2) A couple -3 years ago I couldnt get the original mitsu atf,but I found this idemitsu ATFsp111 type hk at Amazon. It wasnt expensive then.Its still worth not risking sticking with "mitsu atf" Its suppose to be the upgraded or simply newly labeled ATF by Mitsubiti. Have had no issues 20-30k

A mitsu A/T mech/Eng posted ATF +4 was fine because chrysler uses it on Mitsu trannies that were in some of their cars.. I still chose sp3 over chry atf 4, 8-10 dollars a qt back then

wow hunter, Its been a few years since I read this. Good explanation and advice. BTW check my new post yesterday10/21/22 ,(1st post in 2 or 3 yrs) The post is my trans doesnt sound good at all. Give me your frank opinion ,please.
