I'm wanting to install a winch on my 2001 Montero Limited, but I have only found one bumper or winch mount that will fit the full-size Montero, which is the ARB bumper.Does anyone else know of another bumper or winch mount, maybe some pictures? Thanks in advance for any replies and info!!

 

Do you have a montero or montero sport? They are different vehicles you know.

Actually I'm surprised you even found a bumper for the Gen III. Is it an ARB, TJM, ECB, or other bumper? From what I've been able to tell, most 3rd party aftermarket Montero bumpers are made in Australia. This means that there is a slight chance that their bumper mounts won't be the same as our bumper mounts due to differences in US DOT requirements and Australia Transportation department requirements.

That said, make sure it does in fact fit properly or you will be cutting and making your own mounts (not a big deal if you know how).

I don't know of any other aftermarket bumpers for the gen III Montero's. I can't even give you alternative winch mounting idea's since it's a unibody design versus a body on frame design. In a body on frame design I usually suggest mounting the winch plate to the frame rails and aligning it so the cable exits somewhere strait onto the bumper front (then just cut a hole and install a winch fairing).

I was wondering if your 1990 Montero had body to frame bushings in the rear wheel well just ahead of the tire.

Just bought a 1991 Montero LS and the brackets are there but no bushings. The central bolts are horizontal.
