Unhappy My 2000 Montero Endeavor needs a head gasket.

[SIZE="7" I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Mintero Endeavor.I bought it in January of this for $1,000.It ran fine until around the beginning of August. It then started to leak coolant and run hot.I just spent money getting a new waterpump and timing belt put on.It will start up and idle fine, but I can only drive it for about 10 minutes before it will overheat,so I stopped driving it.I was told it needs a head gasket and it will cost around $1,500 to fix it.That's more than I paid for it.Should I try and get it fixed or should I just get rid if it?It has 230,000 miles on it.I had a 95 Toyota 4 Runner before this and it had a similar problem. The guy I sold it to is a Toyota mechanic and he put in a new engine in it and says he might consider selling it back to me.I liked that truck better.Any advise on what I should do?This is the first Mitsubishi I've had and probably my last one too.Thank you.
