Mitsubishi Montero & Montero Sport This sport utility vehicle offers more size than the other Mitsubishi SUVs, but manages to keep a sporty look and comfortable feel, unlike many larger SUVs.

She’s a real beauty! I have a 2000 limited exact same color but yours is so much nicer. I drool over how perfect your seats are. Mine are ripped pretty bad. Are you the original owner?

When you are talking about the paint job being “more than the car is worth”, you are looking at it from a purely economic perspective. I value my montero enough to already have spent way more than its blue book value. Of course, my money went towards repairs needed since I want to keep my baby (187,000) as long as I can, but cosmetic repairs can be worth it too. Anyway, nice rig

Hi Dan,
Thanks for the compliments on this great car. I have enjoyed it immensely, but I am not the original owner. I have had this vehicle for 12 years and have taken good care of it (and every vehicle I own). It had 78,000 on the clock when I bought it at CarMax and now has 170,000.
And you are right - the car is worth more to me than a paint repair would cost. Maybe I will spend the money because everything else is darn near perfect for a twenty-year-old vehicle.
I think about trading it when I see things like the new 2022 Outlander and all the new tech it has, but I can't imagine getting 20 years and 200,000 mile out of anything built today!

I love my montero! I never have been as fond of a car before. I put 1200$ into a repair (tensioner and timing belt) that two mechanics told me NOT TO DO since they thought it would not work out. I could not bare to part with it and drive something else so we went for it and it was successful!. I bought my Monty for 2600$ with 113000 miles back in 2016. I figure I have already put that much in repairs. Next is the suspension system which won’t be cheap. No regrets as every time I pull away from the curb I am happy. They say a car is an extension of your body.I agree as when my car was down for the repair I had to borrow my sisters 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. A nice car but I HATED IT. Too close to the ground, windows are small, can’t see the front of the hood! Who the f designed that flaw..lol

anyway, nice to talk to a fellow Monty lover and owner. I’m shooting for 300,000 miles. Maybe delusional maybe optimistic.we shall see.

I feel the same way about my Monty. It is an extension of my personality. I smile every time I look at it and drive it. My wife has a newer 2016 Ford Explorer which is a very nice ride, but the seats aren't as comfortable and the visibility out with the thin gun-slit windows is awful when you are used to driving the Montero. Every SUV these days is a clone of the other. No distinction; no personality.
Talking to folks like you makes me realize and appreciate the quality and sheer enjoyment of the Montero all the more and helps to talk me out of trading it eventually!
