Recently did the oil change on my 2001 montero and when i went to turn it on it turned on fine and everything... then iheard a diesel type noise i hear it coming out of thevalve covers... thought it was the synthetic oil that was too thick so iputsome regular 10w 30 oil... well nothing the noise was still there,next step i took wasireplaced the oil pump and still nothing..has anyone everencountered this type of problem... thanks in advanced

 

There is a oil pressure sender, did you replace that with thepump? I wouldn't run it anymore until you verify oil pressure.

now if theres no pressure the oil shouldnt come out the push rods right ... in mine it does i took off the valve cover cap and oil is coming up

The tapping noise could be the lash adjusters. Whats the temperature where your located? I only use 10-30 in the summer, 5-30 in the winter...I was going to tell you to change the oil more often and see if that helps, but since it's new oil anyway...

What oil/filter comboare you using?

 

the temperature here right now is 60 degrees.. the oil/filter combo i used was napa gold filter and napa oil.. also where is the lash adjuster.. i will try to get more oil to do another oil change on it.. thanks

oh okay i see when i did the oil change it was in my drive way which is kind of steep... also could it have been the synthetic oil that i put in the first time... sorry for all these questions
