Default Need help identifying a light

I'm new to this forum and to Mitsubishi ownership. I just picked up a 2000 Montero sport4x4 with a 3.0l engine. Of course no owners manual came with it.
So my question is On a little light on the right part of the cluster that shows a little diagram of the drive system. Well its blinking at me. I have put it in and out of 4wd low and back and fourth thinking its a stuck sensor. Can anyone tell me what it is telling me, and possible problem?
I have a repair manual and owners manual coming already. Just trying to get a jump on repairs. First of whish is a leaning valve cover gasket..

Thanks again
Randy

Which light specifically is blinking? Does it start blinking randomly while driving, or shortly after the engine is started?

I think I just discovered what it is down on this forum. It to tell if your in 4x4 or 4x2. So now I'll check the switch at the xfer case...

Thank You

Well, some of the lights will blink when they're inbetween modes, like if you go from 2 Hi to 4 Hi, the front two wheels will blink until they've engaged, but if the center differential blinks without you making any input, that usually indicates an error within some part of the transfer system. On my 2003 model, jumping pin 1 to ground and turning the key to on will get it to blink out the specific error so you'll know what to look for.
