Hello,

I recently picked up an 02 limited and have no 4wd lights at all. The front diff actuator does not move and the solenoids under the air box do click when 12v is applied. I've swapped known working cluster bulbs to see if it was just burned out indicator bulbs but still no lights come on for the system. Would this potentially point to an issue with or no power to the transfer case ecu?

 

I am dealling with that same issue on my 01. Transmission was rebuilt a few weeks ago and I just notice that none of the 4x4 lights are working neither the shifter console illumination. My guess is something is unplugged somewhere. I already checked under the car transmission and transfer case. Everything looks good there. I did got the montero stuck on a grassy area on my property and was able to get out using the 4x4 so Im gessing it is working. Im looking for any info on how to get the center console removed to check is something is disconnected there or any help at all. Dash bulbs are good since they were known to be working before the transmission rebuilt.

 

Problem Solved. This truck had the transmission rebuild recently. After disassembly of the center console for a quick look I found a connector unplugged on some module right in front of the shifter.
