Default Power Steering Line Broken

Hello good people,

I am somewhat new to the group, having just re-registered. Plus I posted this in "General" yesterday. Just found this particular group, however, so I figured a repost would be ok.

I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Ltd. It has been a faithful companion since I bought it used, in 2000.

The power steering line (I don't know which one) broke this weekend and our mechanic cannot find a replacement part. Do you have any recommendations? It is either the incoming or out-going line.

Thank you,

Jim

Hi JDJenkins..where are you from? I asked because I was surpirsed when you said no parts can be found for your montero sport...not even the dealership has them? Have you tried searching online? Rockauto.com? I just browsed online amd saw a couple of them being sold.

I'm in San Francisco. I also saw some online so I am wondering what my mechanic is referring to. I think he was just trying dealerships!

I’m in Cali too.
If you don’t need to use the car right away..ordering online is cheaper, just have to wait for it to be delivered and have your mechanic install it some other day. Make sure you get the right part the first time. Dealership prices are almost always more expensive.

Try searching for the right part at partsouq.com The company is located outside US, but they sell OEM Mitsubishi parts and even with shipping the price will be significantly lower than getting the same part from the dealer. I ordered from them several times. Can't be happier with results.
