I just purchased a set of new remote controls for my 2001 Montero (old ones finally gave up the ghost). I found this old thread in Outlander to do the programming (https://mitsubishiforum.com/forum/ed...tpost&p=327346). Interestingly enough, Montero did go into programming mode using the Outlander instuctions, but new remotes didn't register. However, the remotes came with instructions to go to www.programtheremote.com. Their instructions for specific year/model did work with a slight modification - I had to press LOCK button on new remotes 4-5 times instead of 3 as described.
