does anyone recommend the montero limited over the sport or vice versa? I like the styling of both but like the options on the limited. Any problems to look for while I am out looking? ANy help on this would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at 01'-04' thanks!

One problem to watch out for is smoke due to burning oil from worn valve guides. This is a common problem and a big job to fix. Other than that these cars are pretty bullet proof.

I got the worn valve guides and yes it is expensive to fix. I think it is going to run me around $1500 to get it fixed. It will be done by an ASE mechanic at his home off the the repairshop clock. He is giving me a break. How much would it cost if a dealer did it?

$1500 sounds like a good deal. I did mine myself--took the heads off and had a machine shop resurface and do the valve job. I also replaced the water pump while I was at it. I probably spent $1200.

What was the most expensive part of the job? How much did you pay the machine shop?
