Which side of the ground? 2001 Montero!
I am putting a new timing belt on my 2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport and I am at the point of removing the crankshaft pulley bolt. I was going to make a homemade tool to hold the pulley, but the pin holes are broken out and will not hold anything. I was going to try putting two 20" chain wrenches together and holding the pulley, but there is very little room in the middle to hold onto. So, if that fails to work, I was going to try bumping the starter with a 25" breaker bar pointing at the ground. But, my question to you all is which side do I want my breaker bar. On the right of the pulley or on the left? I know if I get it wrong, there is a good chance of breaking the bolt. I have attached a mock up image of the procedure I might be doing if the chain wrench does not work out.

HaHa. 100% correct. The bar should be positioned exactly the way you drew the diagram. The engine will rotate clockwise when you are looking at it from the front. I've placed mine not on the ground but onto the frame on the driver sided of the engine compartment.
