Default Stuck up tailgate, will not open.

Hi to all!

It seems that the latch that is connected to the rod and actuator is no longer working properly. I can't open the tailgate anymore. When I press the unlock/lock button on the remote, I can hear that the actuator was moving but the outside door handle was still disconnected from the latch. Is there a way that I can still open this manually so I can change the latch through DIY? The dealer was charging me $455.00 just to replace the latch and door handle.
Thanks!

Default Tailgate Stuck

I have the same problem. Did you receive any DIY remedies?

I had the same issue some years ago...

You will need to get in there and clean the rust away and lubricate the internals of the lock to get it working properly again.

I did that several years ago, I cleaned and lubricate the components, but this time, the latch from the inside that is connected to the rods and actuator will not even move, is there a DIY that I can do to open it from the outside? Just like the flat hook that the cops are using. Thank you!

Depending on the lubricant used it may be due for another job. (soak in motor oil for a few hours - better than thinner oils)
You will have to access the lock from inside the cab; carefully remove the trim to gain access.

Thanks for the reply! I will try to remove the trim from inside the cab. Is there a special tool that I need to use for this DIY? I only use a flat head screw driver when I removed the trim several years ago.
