hi guys does anyone really know what the a/t button is for? i heard is starts the car in 2nd gear but what is that for?

 

I have no idea but have had the same question since I bought my Montero Sport. I bought it without an owner's manual. Does anyone know what the A/T button does?

 

Yes, it forces the tranny to start in 2nd gear when it is slick/icy outside (starting from a stop). Go and try it now, you will hear and feel the difference. Next time it snows here (Denver), I'll have my 2wd Monty out and see how the A/T button works on snow/ice.

 

obakemono, where i live this is no snow and ice comes ever 6-10 yrs but there is sand and different semi rough trails....could this button be used for that as well?
