I have an '02 Montero and need to change my tires. I drive mainly city/highway here in No. California with the occasional trip to the mountains for snowboarding. I am leaning towards the following tires:

BFGoodrich® Rugged Trail T/A P265/70R16
BFGoodrich® Radial Long Trail T/A P265/70R16

Anybody have any advice on these tires or any other tire I should consider?

Unfortunately I can't say about those BFG's (I run their mud terrain so I look for puddles to go through with my Montero).

I have heard for snow driving, the Pirelli Scorpions are a very good tire.

 

The pirellis don't really have the best traction in snow, but definitely do on wet roads. I recently got a new set on my 97 sport. Still recommend them though. Very good all season tire, esp here in connecticut.

 

I am a fan of Michelin tires, although many people think they are over priced. I also like to purchase my tires at Costco because of their good prices and everything is included.(rotation and balancing and flat repair). I have had good luck with the Michelin LT tires, but I hear that the Michelin Cross Terrain tires last even longer.

 

Does anybody know about Falken STZ-04 tires? I need new tires for my 2000 XLS, and found these at a closeout price.
