Default type of gas?

I noticed on my 01 montero xls, in idle it has a slight shake. NO check engine light and its right around 8OO RPMs while in idle. I asked a local mechanic and he suggested to run the higher Octane gas in it. He said run it and you will feel the difference.

Just wondering what type of gas ya'll running?

I wouldn't think running a higher octane fuel would have any effect on idle. I'd be looking more at changing plugs/wires and things like cleaning AFM. Could always run a couple bottles of injector cleaner through or even straight methanol if you can get.

Old thread with no responses.

Any 'mechanic' that says to run higher octane in a vehicle that requires regular should be FIRED. Run away from that dumb fücking moron.

I've had enough of this dead thread bumping crap.
