Default Wacky Odometer/Temp Gauge Fix Attempt

So I have the infamous wacky temp gauge problem in my 2004 Montero Gen 3 and found several sites saying you can heat up the solder on the R10 diode to get it to reconnect. My temp gauge now works correct however my odometer readout is not reading anything correctly. It looks like Clingon language, all jumbled up characters. What happened?? Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm assuming the computer holds memory of the milage but it's just not displaying correct now. Help!
