My 2002 Montero Sprort will not idle. I start it, it starts, but then it dies. I can keep it running with my foot on the gas, but the second I let off the gas it dies.

Its a 3.0 sohc v6.

Any help Please.

Sounds like a bad iac motor. Do you have a cel?

 

I am going to take the one I have apart and clean the crap out of it and see if it works better. When I turn the key to get ready to start the vehicle I can hear the IAC motor...it sounds bad...if cleaning it dosent work I will need to get a "new" one.

Yournot really suppose to clean the iac motors b/c thats how they get damaged. To check them you have to ohm the motors and see if the are in spec.
