Default 07 Trip Computer MPG

I just purchased a used 2007 Outlander XLS 4WD with 4k miles on it. I was wondering how accurate to trip computer MPG is. My last trip the cpu stated 35.5mpg over a 40 mile drive with an avg speed of 54mph. So far I've got 290 miles on the tank and the cpu is stating I still have 180 miles left.

BTW - This crossover rocks! I'm glad I purchased it over a RAV4 v6 Sport.

It's accurate - I have done some testingwith an external GPS and was actually surprised how accurate it is. That said, your numbers are incredible. Either you drive like an old granny or you must be coasting a lot, LOL! J/K let us know if your numbers hold up over the longer term.

BTW, welcome!

I'm going to refill the gas tank later today to see what I really got on avg over 300 plus miles. I wasn't drafting. Just driving like a granny slow to speed up, and lots of coasting in 2WD. Most of the time I was driving around 57mph. Whenever I get a new car I like to see what kind of MPG I can get out of it. On this tank I've seen 35.5,34.3, 33.7, 31.2, 28.5, and 22.3 (evil traffic avg 17 mph over 40 miles). If my Outlander gets me 27 mpg on avg (90% highway@ 60), I'll be more than happy.

You should get that MPG pretty easily.

Mine's been within 0.5 MPG at every fill-up; and yes, I do check at every fill-up.

25.8 MPG on the recent 550 mile trip, averaging 73 mph with the A/C kickin the whole way. AND the first half of the drive was hrough the mountains. Not too shabby!

I pulled off 27 MPG going 75MPH..drafting (from a safe distance) a horse trailer. If I got out of the draft it was about 23MPG.

I can get about 30-31 going 55MPH if there's no headwind.
