I was able to get 37.6 mpg today driving into work. Saw a high or 38.2 before getting off the highway. Then drove ~5 miles into the city (25-30mph).

 

How on earth are any of you getting these numbers? On my first accurately measured tank I got 21.5 MPG driving like an old man and nothing in the car. My daily commute is 14 miles one way, and almost completely flat except for 1/8 mile up hill just before my house (which is of course downhill going to work so it should be a wash). I have 4 miles of city driving (3 at the start, 1 at the finish) and 10 miles of full speed freeway in between. Being geriatric gental on the throttle and driving the speed limit (65mph here on the freeway) everywhere yielded this average. Weekday commute milage goes as high as 24MPG, but weekends vary a lot.

My MPG always resets when I turn off the car. Also the miles until empty changes as my driving habits change.

How do I have the MPG computer keep the info after I turn off the car? And is there a way to have the miles until empty just calculate it based on your average? I hate it changing fomr like 140 miles to 100 miles in like 5 minutes.

 

I drive 40 miles each way drop about 1300 feet over the 40 miles (avg 35mpg), going home (up hill 27mpg). I read traffic, don't hit the brakes (drop the Outlander in N). I can hit the lights in town driving 30 mph so I'm in 5th gear or sometime 6th gear. It's like a game to me.I've never had less then 22mpg and that was in stop and go rush hour traffic avg speed over 40 miles was 17mph.

 

Ah, I see. My commute is actually too flat, too short, and too uncongested (no traffic to read, only 5 lights on my entire drive). So given that and assuming everything I stated before is acurate, amI seeing bad numbers here or is 21/22 normal for those conditions? Could the factI only have about 650 miles on the engine have anything to do with it?

Now thatI examine my commute, I'm not sure I should even be complaining.

 

There actually is a way. I know I read something about it being in the Settings menu on the computer. It automatically resets your data after the car has been off for 4 hours. It can be set to maual trip though. I know it's in the book for sure.

 

My drive to work is 4 miles and no lights. I have to stop at 1 stop sign and thats it. I only manage 19.5 to 20.5 mpg. The speeds are 25 and 35 mph.

I would think you'll see your mpg increase 10% over the next 2000 miles or so. Leaving work the first five miles suck lots of stop and go in the city and 20 lights. I'm lucky to see 21mpg on the trip computer.
