I'd say that is information that would have been pertinant when making your original claim of 38mpg. You certainly got some people excited. Next folks will want to buy a tornado for the air inlet and some magnets for the fuel lines to try to keep up with you.

 

Driving on I25 in Denver I still can get ~35mpg driving 50-55mph. The last three tanks I've got anavg 29.5mpg over 1200 miles. Yesterday round trip I got 33.4 mpg over those 80 miles (uphill and downhill). On flat land my 07 outlander will pull ~1200 rpms doing 40mph. To get over 28mpg you really have to work at it (reading traffic, slope of the road, drop in N at stops, etc). As I said before it's a game to me. Most people will never see this kind of MPG from their outlander because it takes effort >hypermiling...

 

The best numbers I have seen were: displayed on the dash, 29. something and actual MPG calculated by miles driven divided by however many gallons I put on the fill up was about 26.5, so the trip comp was a bit off. Remember the trip comp calculates only how you are doing in the present mostly, it wontbe able to tell how many stop signs your about to encounter. By the way those numbers were from a trip to virginia from NC, I drove 150 miles up and 150 down plus a few other city miles, but mostly highway. ESM you have to tell me what you are running on, oil? gas? mods???, these are the bext numbers I've seen on mine and thats driving like my grandma. I do the same as you, predict the stop lights and signs and just let the car slow down by it self and accelerate slowlly. by the way I have 3000 miles on mine.

This thread makes me cry. Im an aceleration freak and I get terrible gas mileage because I cant keep my foot out of it. But then even a trip to the grocery store is a ride through the twisties it handles so spectacular I cant help myself.

If I get the chance to take it on the freeway it shows around 26 on the display. But then I promptly ruin that when I get back into traffic.

I don't really impact traffic since I stay in the right lane and there are two or three other lanes for faster traffic. Before I purchased my 07 Outlander, I drove an Audi S4 at or above the speed limit. So I understand, It's hard driving 55mph in such a sporty crossover. But on my last tank of gas (over 407 miles) I got 30.1mpg[8D]... In my Audi I was luck to see 22mpg on 91-93 octane, but that the price you pay to be in boost.

No mods, or other crap. I do plan to switch to mobil1 at my next oil change. I just drive based on the real time mpg bar and adjust my gas input to stay at 25mpg or greater (only at take off, and hills do I drop below that for any period of time)

 

Ok, I set the MPG calculator to Manual reset, but then it reset again. I double checked the manual and it says it will reset and go back to auto if the car is in LOCK or ACC mode for more than 4 hours. Do you guys just drive your cars every 4 hrs?!?! (joking)

Lately I have been better gas mileage. That is by checking how many miles I have driven and filling up. I have been actually get 25MPG. The trip on my computer has been saying I avg 25, 26, and even 27mpg.

 

what's your driving mix (city/hwy)? I'm around 90% hwy, thus my higher numbers.

 

I do about 50/50 and get on average 20 to 22
