RE: 07 xls 3.0L Block heater
I can also confirm there is a block heater for the 3.0L.
Having said that, we have yet to use our even though it had gotten really cold last winter. Our Outlander has the benefit of an attached garage and mitsu Canada has stated that the engine is good without it against the temperatures we experience in Calgary.

i guess the vehicle is too new to know and long term hiccups it might have with winter weather. im just curious as to how good this engine will actually crank over when it becomes 10 years or so older

For us "IDIOTS", the line from Mitsubishi Canada is that there is NO BLOCK HEATER AVAILABLE and the CAR DOESN'T NEED ONE. Please show us your block heater, who put it in and give more information. IDIOTS want to know.
p.s. calling people idiots when you have 6 posts in a forum is really bad form. Makes people not want to help you.

Wow Tcp Calm down, lol
for shure like any car, you can have one, any if is not made by mitsubishi, you can buy any aftermarquet one, but to me i just thing that is waste of money, because the car dont need it. Like i say i live in canada, and some winter we see -40 to -45 in winter, and the car will always start, so dont spend your money for that.

ORIGINAL: SRT420
MOST of you guys are idiots. There is a "block" heater for the Outlander, 3.0 and 2.4. And for Canadian warranty, I know for a fact an aftermarket block heater WILL NOT VOID your warranty.

RE: 07 xls 3.0L Block heater
I spoke to the dealership today. there is an aftermarket part that they stock, and will install. one for the 3.0L v6, and a different one for the 2.4 i4. the one for the 2.4 is a plug type design that as my parts guy calls it a huge waste of money. is sits in a little hole in the block and warms the actual block itself. the one for the 3.0 L is a lot more realistic. it screws into the block and actually contacts the coolant fluid itself and warms the fluid more similar to a traditional block heater. he quoted me the cost as $220 for my vehicle, but he also says as far as mitsu is concerned, you dont need it, would you need it, hes not sure.

RE: 07 xls 3.0L Block heater
I have had my XLS for one winter without a block heater, never once did it fail to start, I agree that you probably don't absolutely need one. But exactly why do people put in block heaters, in my mind it's to minimize the ware on the engine that happens when you start a car at very low temperatures. I don't think the Outlander is immune to this. For the first 10-15 seconds at -30C it sound like a freaken tractor.
