Thanks for the update, whispanic. Was it a 2012 ECU flash? If so, do you notice any difference in the power or any other driving characteristics?

They pretty much patted me on the head and said that there was nothing they could do until it breaks down. I am so frustrated. This is my first Mitsubishi and I will NEVER buy one again.

Hey, my Mitsubishi dealer wouldn't even touch my car "because I didn't buy it there".

Your service is golden ;)

Seriously though, welcome to the Mitsubishi ownership experience.

I sold mine and will never buy another.

as my ticket shows:

NO CODES IN SYSTEM - FOUND TSB-12-13-002 TO REPROGRAM PCM

Hope that helps. Since the issue is erratic it may take a bit before I know if it worked.

Soooooo Im thinking... If I had a PCM that did read my CPS correctly could that explain the less than stellar MPGs? I did notice soot on my exhaust since day one. I also noticed a rich smell on start up. Might explain a lot.

Whatcha think?

I just called my local dealer (South Suburban Mitsu - Chicagoland) and they said to bring it on in to get the TSB's taken care of.

Do I need to ask them to fix anything else besidesthese two?

AWESOME. Thanks a lot for the info, whispanic. That document is great. I'm going to see if I can get mine done.

Could you post back after a few days about the gas mileage?I'm wondering if your change would net around 1mpg increase.

Ha, now that you mention it, this has happened to me several times in the last two months or so. My daily drive involves a 0.75 mile long incline at about 40mph, maybe 6-9 degree incline. I have to hold the car at about 2400-2600 rpm to go at 40-45mph on this incline. About 5-8 times in the last three months or so, I've had the engine rpm drop suddenly to 1800-2000 then go back up to 2500. This is with steady pressure on the accelator without moving it at all during the climb. I've never seen this happen up until around December - so this may be the cold weather RPM drop they're talking about.

I got the update and here's the first impression:

Will report more after about a week of city driving.

That thread is a joke. No one is reading the other replies. I posted that a K&N drop in filter will net you about 3 MPG (per my experience in this car) and no one even acknowledged me. Instead of bitching they could spend the ~$40 pay it off in about 5-6 tanks of gas worth of savings, and THEN complain to Mitsu AFTER they are getting decent mileage. But no, they don't ACTUALLY want to fix their problems, they just want to bitch an' moan.

However, I'm glad you took the time to write such a detailed report on your findings. Makes me more excited to finally get mine in (which I should be accomplishing upon returning from my vacation)

Yea people in that thread just want to bitch and moan. I bet it's is their driving habbits that are causing the problem. People just want to blame someone else.
